HWFI CDT Powers the Next Wave of Urban Change

Big news — the next Future Industries Demonstrator (FID) Innovation Cycle is live!

Since 2023, FID has backed 15 pioneering London SMEs to trial bold solutions to real urban challenges. It’s funded by the Mayor of London and UK Government, delivered by Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Innovation District, and — here’s where we come in — anchored in the Loop Circular Economy Hub.

Why does this matter?

Because the Loop is more than a building. It’s where regeneration is shaped by the community, and where innovation, sustainability, and local benefit go hand in hand.

Through FID, small businesses get:

  • Grant funding to make ideas real

  • Expert guidance to deliver innovation trials

  • Access to industry mentors and networks

  • Free workspace in a creative, circular economy hub

The new challenge theme is Building Better – Innovating Healthier Solutions. For this challenge they’re focusing on the intersections of health, the built environment, and climate.

They’re seeking bold solutions that address pressing health challenges within London's built environment.
