New Partnership: Local Company Fibrelab Takes Over The Textile Reuse Hub
We’ve got some news to share. FibreLab has officially joined forces with the Hackney Wick & Fish Island Community Development Trust (HWFI CDT) to breathe new life into our Textile Reuse Hub on Fish Island.
A New Chapter Begins
Thanks to the continued support from The Trampery, we’re moving Fibrelab into a spacious, rent-free studio that’s more than just four walls. It’s a launchpad for innovation, sustainability, and community engagement.
Here’s what’s on the loom:
Advanced Textile Recycling Equipment: From fibre openers to carding and spinning tools, we’re scaling up our capabilities to transform textile waste into valuable resources.
Workshops & Open Studio Days: Dive into the world of recycling, biomaterials, and circular design. Whether you’re a curious local or a seasoned designer, there’s something for everyone.
Retail Space for Upcycled Designs: Discover and purchase creations from designers who turn waste into wonders, connecting local businesses and residents through creativity.
““This is an incredible opportunity for us to expand the impact we deliver locally. It allows us to deepen our commitment to circular systems, connect with our community through making, and demonstrate how waste can be reimagined as a resource. This is about building something that’s rooted in place, driven by innovation, and open to all—while inspiring change through education and providing access to the tools and resources people need to make a local impact.””
Why This Matters
Textile waste is a pressing issue, and we believe the solution starts at the community level. By reimagining waste as a resource, we’re not just recycling—we’re redefining the fabric of our local economy.
Join the Movement
We’re just getting started, and there’s a place for you in this journey. Whether you’re interested in sustainable fashion, innovative recycling methods, or community-driven initiatives, this is your space to explore, learn, and contribute.
