Join our Board…
Help us preserve the social fabric of one of East London’s critical neighbourhoods by securing community ownership of buildings for the long term.
We’re now recruiting 3–4 new non-executive directors to guide our next chapter and we want to hear from you.
We’re securing long-term control of buildings, growing our financial independence, and leading on embedding circular economy principles into how neighbourhoods work to fight climate change.
In the past year, we’ve:
Launched The Loop: East London’s first circular economy hub in a repurposed industrial building.
Secured a 99-year lease at peppercorn rent that gives the community real control over local development.
Built new partnerships with funders, operators, and the public sector.
Secured £130k to deliver flexible life buildings on the Olympic Park
Fundraised to re-Launched the Hackney Wick Town Hall providing a forum for local people to connect and solve local problems together
It’s an exciting time. We’re scaling up from scrappy-but-effective to something more systemic, and we’re designing the next wave of spaces, partnerships, and funding strategies right now.
Who We’re Looking For
We want new board members who can help us think strategically, open new doors, and challenge us where it counts.
We’re open to people of varying backgrounds. If you want to help our mission, we want to hear form you. However, based on our current stage, we’re especially keen to hear from people with experience in:
Property strategy – Portfolio thinking, acquisitions, risk
Capital & funding – Blended finance, philanthropy, social investment
Circular economy & impact – Measurement, systems thinking, policy influence
You don’t need to be a board veteran. If this mission speaks to you and you’ve got something to bring, we want to hear from you.
We’re actively working to build a more inclusive board and especially welcome expressions of interest from people underrepresented in leadership roles: including people of colour, working class backgrounds, disabled people, and younger candidates.
What You’ll Get Out of It
A seat at the table of a pioneering model of community-led development
The chance to shape real-world regeneration in one of London’s most dynamic neighbourhoods
A meaningful role in a team that values integrity, experimentation, and generosity of spirit
Time commitment: Quarterly meetings (in-person or virtual) + occasional input
Term: 3 years, with a maximum of 9 years.
Location: East London preferred, hybrid welcome
Compensation: Voluntary role (expenses reimbursed)
