Earth Day Celebrations as part of Hackney Council’s Local Area Activation Fund

Earth Week in Hackney Wick is nearly here

A week of free workshops developed by our partner Arbeit Studios in sustainability and circularity, material swaps, chat with local businesses and community‑led activities across The Loop and Trowbridge Gardens, all funded by Hackney Council’s Local Area Activation Fund.

Hackney Council's Local Area Activation Fund was set up to help the borough's town centres and high streets thrive, backing events and initiatives that bring residents and businesses together, create connections, and drive footfall into local neighbourhoods. The fund draws from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), channelling government investment back into the places and communities that need it most. Our Earth Week programme is exactly the kind of community-led activation the fund was designed to support.

Expect hands‑on making, sustainable practices, material reuse, gardening, and a final chance to explore The Loop before it says farewell. Workshops and activities include:

• Gardening intro (11am)
• Kilo sale + art & craft swap (from 11am)
• Seed planting (11am–1pm)
• Flax processing (2–3pm)
• Plastic recycling (5:30–7pm)
• Soft‑plastic upcycling (5:30–7pm)
• Mending workshop (tbc)

Some sessions have limited capacity and require booking while others are drop‑in.
